Dr. Samer Makhoul is an experienced UK certified  consultant psychiatrist at Al-Reem Hospital.

Dr. Samer has a wide and rich experience gained from his years of training in the UK where he has obtained the membership of the royal college of psychiatrist (MRCPsych) in 2006 and higher specialized training (CCT) in adult psychiatry and addictions in 2010. He later got awarded by the royal college of psychiatrists in the UK in 2018 his fellowship(FRCPsych) as mark of distinction and recognition of contributions to psychiatry.

Dr. Samer has complemented his training with a certificate of psychopharmacology from the British association of psychopharmacology as well as a postgraduate certificate (PGcert.) in Autism from Sheffield Hallam University in the UK.

Dr. Samer is an aviation specialist and approved by the General Civil Aviation Authority in the UAE as a specialist Aero medical examiner.

Dr. Samer worked as a substantive consultant psychiatrist in the National Health Service (NHS) in the north east of England prior to moving the UAE in 2013 to work with AlNoor hospital as head of psychiatry department, chief of medical specialties, and chair of the education and CME department. Following his 2 years at AlNoor hospital ( Mediclinic currently), He spent more than 5 years at the American center for psychiatry and neurology (ACPN), one of the leading psychiatric services in the private sector in the UAE. During his time at ACPN, Dr. Samer held various positions including multidisciplinary service director ,head of psychiatry department, and deputy Chief Medical Officer.

Dr. Samer has been a regular speaker in national and international conferences and has multiple publications in international medical journals. Dr. Samer plays an important role in raising awareness about mental health in the region.
